Taiwan Inaugurates Dedicated Taiwanese Opera Center, Minister Vows Support for All Genres

After more than ten years of persistent efforts, Taiwan's National Center for Traditional Arts has finally inaugurated a dedicated base for the development of Taiwanese Opera. The official unveiling ceremony for the Taiwanese Opera Center building took place in Kaohsiung on August 30.

Minister of Culture Lee Yung, speaking at the ceremony, bowed and stressed the government's commitment to ensuring equitable support for all traditional theater forms. This new center represents a significant milestone, addressing long-standing calls for a specialized facility to nurture and promote this vital aspect of Taiwanese cultural heritage.

The establishment of the center, which involved extensive planning from theater renovations to building construction and operational strategies, signifies a renewed focus on preserving and advancing traditional performing arts. It aims to provide a focused environment for Taiwanese Opera, ensuring its continued evolution and accessibility for future generations.
