Taiwan International Children and Youth Carnival to feature France as theme country

Kaohsiung is set to host the "2026 Taiwan International Children and Youth Carnival" from September 23 to 27, coinciding with the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday. The event will unfold at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center and the Pier-2 Art Center's Library branch.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture, this carnival marks a significant expansion from previous children's book fairs. It now encompasses a broader range of artistic disciplines, including performing arts, film, and literature. The three core pillars of the event are the "Future Generation Book Fair," "Young Boom! Theater," and the "Tiffi is Delivering! Children's Film Festival," promising diverse and cross-disciplinary cultural experiences for young attendees.

Minister Lee Yung saw the Kaohsiung City Government's dedication and effort in planning the event and decided to increase the performing arts activities and invite PTS to organize the Taiwan International Children's Film Festival (TICFF) to join.

This year's carnival is particularly notable as it is the first to be led by the Ministry of Culture, building on the success of a trial children's book fair held in Taichung last year. Minister Lee Yung's decision to expand the performing arts component and integrate the Taiwan International Children's Film Festival (TICFF), organized by PTS (Public Television Service), highlights a commitment to a comprehensive cultural offering. France will be the guest of honor, infusing the event with international perspectives and cultural exchange opportunities.

Kaohsiung City Government officials, including Secretary-General Kuo Tien-kuei and Cultural Affairs Bureau Director Wang Wen-tsui, expressed enthusiasm for the event. They highlighted the collaborative effort between central and local governments to create a festival that is both locally relevant and internationally acclaimed. In the lead-up to the main event, over 30 related activities, including reading promotion and film screenings, will be held across Kaohsiung from June to September.
