Taiwan issues high-temperature alert, with 38°C forecast for three areas

Taiwan is bracing for extreme heat as the Central Weather Administration issued a high-temperature advisory on a recent afternoon. The agency placed New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, and Nantou County under an orange alert, indicating a high probability of reaching a scorching 38 degrees Celsius. This intense heat is attributed to the subsidence of the outer circulation of a typhoon.

Additionally, Taipei City, Hsinchu City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Taichung City, and Changhua County were placed under a yellow alert, signaling temperatures likely to reach significant highs. The weather administration urged the public to be vigilant and take necessary precautions.

Residents are strongly advised to limit non-essential outdoor activities, work, and exercise. Staying hydrated and protecting oneself from the sun are paramount. The administration also recommended maintaining indoor ventilation and coolness, suggesting methods like fanning or using ice packs. Special attention should be paid to vulnerable groups, including the elderly, children, individuals with chronic illnesses, the obese, those on medication, and outdoor workers, urging them to stay away from high-temperature environments.
