Taiwan Mayor Chang remembers late Ruentai founder Yin Yen-liang as 'master of civil engineering'

Taoyuan Mayor Simon Chang has paid tribute to the late尹衍樑 (Yin Yen-liang), founder of Ruentai Group, who passed away at the age of 76. Chang remembered Yin as a master of civil engineering, whose demanding standards and exceptional execution left a lasting impression.

The two men shared a significant professional connection in the early 2000s when Chang, then an executive at Acer, was tasked with building Taiwan's first cloud data center. Yin's team undertook this unprecedented project, which required absolute reliability for its power and mechanical systems. Chang recalled Yin's personal involvement in planning and supervision, including site visits and inspections, emphasizing his meticulous attention to detail.

In my heart, Yin Yen-liang was not only an engineering leader with extremely high demands for professionalism, discipline, and responsibility, but also a master in the civil engineering field whom people look up to with great admiration.

Originally slated for a one-year completion, the data center project was finished in just eight months under Yin's leadership. This efficiency and quality of work not only ensured the data center's stable operation through subsequent power and water disruptions in Taoyuan but also forged a deep connection between Yin, Chang, and the region. Chang expressed his profound sadness at Yin's passing and extended condolences to his family and Ruentai Group, acknowledging Yin's substantial contributions to Taiwan's industrial development.

Originally, Acer proposed completing the data center within one year, but under Yin Yen-liang's leadership, the project was successfully completed in just eight months. Remarkably, the data center has maintained stable operations for many years, unaffected by multiple power and water outages in Taoyuan.
