Taiwan Ministry of Labor releases handbook to help businesses build supportive workplaces

Taiwan's Ministry of Labor has launched a new "Practical Handbook for Employee Assistance Program Coordinators" to assist companies in fostering supportive work environments. This guide is designed to equip EAP personnel with practical tools for assessing employee needs and implementing effective solutions.

The handbook details a comprehensive approach to employee assistance, covering case management, needs assessment, crisis identification, resource referral, inter-departmental collaboration, and resource management. It aims to empower coordinators to systematically develop and manage EAP initiatives, ultimately cultivating a culture of care and support within organizations.

Recognizing the resource constraints of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the manual features a dedicated chapter for them. This section emphasizes starting with a simple employee care contact point, leveraging free external social resources, and establishing basic crisis response rules and tracking mechanisms. This approach allows SMEs to build practical and effective employee care systems without significant financial investment.
