Taiwan Opens Bookings for Offshore Island Flights During Double Ten Day Holiday

The Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) announced that bookings for flights to Taiwan's offshore islands during the upcoming Double Ten Day holiday will open next week.

With a three-day holiday period from October 9 to October 11, the CAA has planned for 1102 flights, offering a total of 89,926 seats for routes connecting to Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu. The flight schedule will cover a five-day period from October 8 to October 12 to accommodate holiday travel. The CAA has requested airlines to monitor booking status and add flights if demand increases.

The agency highlighted that the primary focus for holiday travel remains on the routes to Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu. Airlines have scheduled flights based on anticipated market demand. Specifically, the Penghu routes will have 498 flights with 36,828 seats, Kinmen will have 470 flights with 44,018 seats, and Matsu will have 134 flights with 9,080 seats.

Travelers booking tickets for peak travel times, from October 8 to October 10 for departures from Taiwan to the islands, and October 10 to October 12 for return journeys, will face strict usage limitations. These tickets will be marked as valid only for the specific flight and date, and will be void if not used. Additionally, a tiered cancellation fee system will be implemented. Airlines will charge between 10% and 30% of the ticket price as a cancellation fee, depending on how close to the departure date the cancellation is made.
