Taiwan Party Leaders Campaign Together, Championing Mothers' Voices in Local Politics

New Power Party (NPP) Chairwoman Wang Wan-yu joined Taoyuan City council candidate Shen Pei-ling in a street canvassing event at Nanmen Market, advocating for the inclusion of mothers' perspectives in local governance. Wang emphasized that Shen's journey into public affairs began from her role as a mother, bringing a grounded understanding and sense of responsibility crucial for local politics.

Both Wang and Shen share a background in the tech industry and entered public service after becoming mothers. They found common ground in observing systemic deficiencies through their experiences raising children. Wang highlighted that despite differing ideologies among the four parties in the Taiwan People's Front, they share a core belief: "Politics should be about practical work." This cross-party collaboration aims to bring individuals like Shen, who are dedicated to long-term local engagement, into the council to address shortcomings and advocate for citizens' rights.

Shen Pei-ling addressed concerns from vendors at Nanmen Market, who have reported a significant drop in business since a fire impacted the area. She stressed that the market's fluctuations directly affect many families' livelihoods and called for the city government to develop a comprehensive plan for the market's future, ensuring a stable operating environment for vendors and a pleasant shopping experience for consumers.

Furthermore, Shen spoke out against recent controversies in Taoyuan involving privilege, bullying, and debt collection. She asserted that the city's political culture and quality of governance are being tested, and the council should not be a hereditary platform for the well-connected. Shen called for genuine representation and action in the council, positioning herself as a diligent oversight force dedicated to the local community.
