President Lai Ching-te recently reignited discussions about relocating Taiwan's capital and central government to Taichung, a proposal he previously championed. Speaking at a Lions Club event, Lai emphasized his vision to move the Legislative Yuan and Executive Yuan to the central Taiwanese city to bolster national competitiveness.

Party officials noted the existence of successful international precedents for capital relocation revitalizing urban areas. The TPP's deputy secretary-general, Wang An-hsiang, revealed that he and legislator Hung Yu-hsiang had recently visited Zhongxing New Village, highlighting its revitalization as a key issue the party intends to pursue.

While Lai's remarks sparked renewed debate, Premier Cho Jung-tai quickly clarified that no concrete discussions about relocating government agencies had taken place.
