Pegatron Chairman Tong Tzu-hsien announced that the artificial intelligence industry has officially transitioned from the generative AI of the past three to four years into the era of Agentic AI and Physical AI. This signifies AI's evolution from merely answering questions to possessing the capability to execute tasks and interact with the real world.

Tong highlighted that Agentic AI acts like a digital secretary or butler, capable of autonomously performing tasks such as checking emails, managing bills, and operating applications under user authorization. This advancement promises significant efficiency gains in both office and home environments, freeing humans for more valuable work. Simultaneously, Physical AI is rapidly taking shape, with AI capabilities being integrated into robots and autonomous vehicles, enabling them to perform tasks in physical environments, from disaster zones to factory floors.

He further noted that AI's future trend involves "landing," with edge computing becoming increasingly prevalent. AI capabilities will be embedded in a wide range of devices, including smartphones, wearables, smart glasses, and autonomous vehicles. Tong predicts that Agentic AI will become an indispensable part of daily life, akin to washing machines and microwave ovens today. This expansion will drive demand for sensors, optical communications, printed circuit boards (PCBs), IC substrates, and various electronic components.

Tong expressed strong admiration for President Lai Ching-te's perspective on AI development, particularly his description of Taiwan's position as being at the forefront of this transformative period. Lai noted Taiwan's first-quarter economic growth rate of nearly 14%, a performance rarely seen in developed nations. Tong echoed this sentiment, stating, "I deeply admire the president's observation and conclusion," and characterizing the current era as "AI's Great Western Frontier," where Taiwan is ideally situated to seize global AI opportunities.
