Taiwan's Alishan Forest Railway launches 'Starlight Railway Journey' stargazing tour

Taiwan's scenic Alishan Forest Railway is set to offer a unique "Starlight Railway Journey" on September 13 and 14, inviting travelers to experience the magic of the mountains under the night sky. This special themed train tour aims to immerse participants in the beauty of the alpine wilderness and the charm of a nighttime forest railway ride.

The journey will take passengers to the Xiaosao Platform, situated at an altitude of 2,488 meters. This location is known for its minimal light pollution and offers a 360-degree panoramic view, ideal for observing celestial wonders like star clusters and the Summer Triangle.

The event, organized in collaboration with the Chiayi City Astronomical Association, will feature guided stargazing sessions. Participants will travel from Chiayi by train to Alishan. The tour offers both a single-day option and a two-day, one-night package. The overnight option includes accommodation within the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area.

Due to the exclusive nature of the experience, each session is limited to 40 participants. Online registration for the "Forest Railway Stargazing Fun" tour will commence on August 28 at 10 a.m. The two-day package is priced at NT$5,900 per person, covering train fare, meals, expert guidance, stargazing fees, accommodation, insurance, and a railway souvenir. The single-day tour costs NT$1,200 per person and includes train fare, meals, stargazing, and a souvenir.
