Taiwan's Electronic Warfare 'Xuanjie' Vehicle Disrupts Enemy Drones and Landing Forces on East Coast

Taiwan's military has revealed its advanced "Xuanjie" tactical electronic warfare vehicle, a key component of its electronic warfare strategy, during the ongoing Han Kuang 42 exercise. The vehicle, deployed along the east coast, is designed to disrupt enemy communications and counter drone threats, bolstering Taiwan's defense against potential amphibious assaults.

The "Xuanjie" system, developed under a classified project, is integrated into army corps, commands, and combined brigades. Its primary role is to jam enemy UHF/VHF military frequencies and interfere with landing forces. The vehicle is also equipped to disrupt military-grade small drones, a growing concern in modern warfare. The development of such electronic warfare capabilities is a priority for Taiwan's armed forces, aiming to enhance its ability to defend against sophisticated enemy tactics.

During the exercise, the "Xuanjie" vehicles were strategically dispersed near key locations in Hualien. They deployed distinctive "fishbone"-like antennas to conduct jamming operations against simulated enemy forces. The system comprises two reconnaissance vehicles and two electronic warfare vehicles, working in tandem to create a comprehensive electronic disruption capability. This deployment is part of Taiwan's broader defense strategy, which includes "beachhead defense" and "deep defense" tactics.

While the "Xuanjie" is classified as a "regional" and "tactical" jamming vehicle, it operates in conjunction with strategic electronic warfare assets from the Information, Communications and Electronic Warfare Command. This division of labor ensures that Taiwan can address threats across various levels, from gray-zone harassment to full-scale combat. The "Xuanjie" project is considered a crucial support element for Taiwan's defense strategy, aiming to ensure the effectiveness of its communication systems, radar, and drone operations in real combat scenarios.
