Taiwan's Joseph Zeng Crowned Best Actor at Busan OTT Awards

Taiwanese actor Joseph Zeng has achieved a significant international honor, winning the Best Actor award at the Global OTT Awards in Busan for his performance in the drama "If I Had Never Seen the Sun." He triumphed over strong competition, including South Korea's Hyun Bin and Kim Seon-ho, and China's Song Weilong, as well as Japan's Ryoma Takeuchi.

This victory marks a major step for Zeng, who was nominated for Best New Actor two years ago for "The Victim's Game" but did not win. His return this year to compete in the lead actor category and secure the top prize underscores his rising prominence.

Adding a touch of serendipity, the award was presented by Taiwanese actress Kara Wai, who Zeng previously shared a nomination with. Zeng expressed his overwhelming emotions upon receiving the award, describing his feelings as a "roller coaster ride" filled with surprise. He extended his gratitude to the directors, producers, and cast of "If I Had Never Seen the Sun," acknowledging the demanding six-month shoot.

"I want to say thank you to all the staff who worked on this project! Because we spent a very long time filming, nearly half a year, I spent every day on this drama, delving into and accompanying these characters through their most difficult moments," Zeng stated. He concluded his acceptance speech with an inspiring message: "There are still many possibilities on the path of acting, don't give up on art, thank you everyone!" His words resonated with the audience, earning thunderous applause.

The awards ceremony also celebrated Taiwanese achievements in visual effects, with the drama "The Incorruptible" taking home the award for Best Visual Effects. This dual recognition further highlights Taiwan's growing influence and talent in the global streaming and entertainment landscape.
