Taiwan to Join Pacific Islands Forum as Development Partner, Prioritizing National Interests

Taiwan will join the Pacific Islands Forum in August, hosted by ally Palau, as a development partner. Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim, currently visiting Palau, announced Taiwan's intention to share its development experiences with other Pacific island nations. Taiwan is particularly keen to share its expertise in healthcare, agriculture, and technology, building on successful bilateral projects with Palau.

The participation underscores Taiwan's commitment to its Pacific allies and its strategy to prioritize national interests in international engagements. The initiative, which includes a multi-billion dollar youth program, aims to foster deeper cooperation and mutual benefit within the region.
