Taiwan-U.S. industry fair aims to build long-term cooperation mechanism

Taipei is actively fostering deeper economic ties with the United States through the "2026 Taiwan-U.S. City Industry Business Opportunities Matching Fair." Held in Taipei, the event brought together representatives from 20 U.S. state governments, focusing on collaborations in forward-looking supply chains such as AI, semiconductors, smart manufacturing, biotechnology, and sustainable energy.

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an emphasized the fair's significance as Taiwan's first city-level international business opportunity platform. He noted that the event, which includes participation from the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) and various industry associations, aims to inject new momentum into Taiwan-U.S. industrial cooperation. Chiang referenced Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's remarks on the importance of wisdom and trust in the bilateral relationship, underscoring Taiwan's crucial role in U.S. semiconductor development.

This year's fair expands on previous efforts, gathering 20 U.S. state government representative offices in Taiwan. The focus is on Taiwan-U.S. economic and trade trends, including AI, semiconductors, drones, robotics, and smart healthcare. Beyond the annual matching event, Taipei aims to establish a long-term, stable cooperation mechanism to strengthen economic and trade relations.

The event also introduced a "Taiwan-U.S. Service Chain Link Zone" to integrate resources like logistics, warehousing, legal services, accounting, talent recruitment, cross-border e-commerce, and digital systems. This initiative is designed to assist Taiwanese companies in navigating the U.S. market, reducing costs and time for overseas expansion. The fair also included forums and exchange activities to help businesses grasp industry trends and explore collaborative opportunities.
