Taiwan Vocational High Schools Announce Special Admissions Results with 56.51% Acceptance Rate

The special admissions selection for vocational high schools for the 2027 academic year has announced its results, revealing an overall acceptance rate of 56.51%. This process involved 86 institutions offering 7,583 places across 350 specialized programs.

A total of 9,528 students applied for these positions, with 5,384 ultimately being admitted. Ye Hsiu-tsun, a section chief at the Ministry of Education's Department of Secondary Education, highlighted that this admissions channel is crucial for vocational education. Unlike traditional academic-focused pathways, it places greater emphasis on students' practical skills, hands-on abilities, and developmental potential.

Schools designed practical skill tests tailored to their specific program characteristics, covering diverse fields such as design, hospitality, mechanics, agriculture, business, and the arts. This approach allows students to demonstrate their talents through practical application and secure a place in their desired specialized fields.

Ye noted that the significant number of applicants indicates that many junior high graduates and their parents recognize the development direction of vocational education. They aim to enter fields aligned with their interests and career plans earlier through this specialized admissions process. The Ministry of Education actively promotes vocational education through measures like special admissions, industry-academia collaboration, and practical courses, guiding students toward suitable learning paths and future career prospects.
