Taiwan Women's Basketball Claims Silver, Achieves Best Ever Result at ISF Championship

The Taiwan women's basketball team achieved a historic milestone, securing the silver medal at the 2026 ISF World School Basketball Championship held in Zlatibor, Serbia. Their impressive performance culminated in a 66-76 loss to China in the championship final, but still represents the best result in the team's history.

Throughout the tournament, the Taiwanese team showcased exceptional teamwork and sharp shooting. They advanced through the knockout stages by defeating the Czech Republic 104-37, the United States 81-59, and Turkey 87-32 in the semifinals. Zhang Yutong was a key player in the semifinal win, scoring a game-high 23 points.

In the final against China, Taiwan mounted a spirited comeback in the third quarter. Led by Lin Nianzhen and Xu Yushan, who each scored 9 points in the quarter, the team narrowed the deficit to just one point. However, they were unable to sustain the momentum in the fourth quarter, ultimately falling by 10 points.

This silver medal surpasses Taiwan's previous best performance at the ISF championship, which was fourth place in 2019. The team was coached by Li Tai-ying of Yangming High School, with Luo Yan-ping of Bei-Yi Girls High School serving as assistant coach. The roster included notable players such as Su Heng, Xu Yushan, and Lin Nianzhen.
