Taiwanese actress Wang Yue cancels public appearance due to flu after brain surgery

Taiwanese actress Wang Yue has been forced to cancel an upcoming public appearance due to a flu infection, just months after recovering from two emergency brain surgeries. The actress, who underwent operations for subarachnoid hemorrhage in November last year, had recently been seen in good spirits promoting a stage play.

Wang Yue was scheduled to attend a gratitude sharing session with her chief surgeon, Dr. Hsu Ping-hung, but her plans were abruptly halted when she fell ill. According to a friend, her young grandson contracted the flu from classmates at an after-school program and subsequently passed it on to her.

The event, which was intended to be a sharing session titled "When Life Suddenly Hits the Pause Button: My Traumatic Brain Hemorrhage Journey," aimed to offer insights from a patient's perspective. Wang Yue's participation was meant to highlight the impact of traumatic brain injuries on individuals and families, emphasizing the importance of patient-centered integrated care that includes not only technical advancements but also psychological support and quality of life.

Concerned about potentially infecting medical professionals, Wang Yue decided to cancel her appearance. The session was designed to provide a platform for healthcare workers, patients, and the general public to understand the multifaceted challenges and recovery process associated with severe brain injuries.
