Taiwanese celebrity Wu Xiong linked to Japanese national treasure vandalism case; netizens flood social media

Taiwanese celebrity "Wu Xiong" (real name Cai Yizhen) is facing online speculation after a woman with the same name and age was arrested in Japan for allegedly vandalizing a national treasure.

The woman, who identified herself as a host working in Taiwan, was apprehended at Kansai International Airport on August 22. She is accused of splashing a liquid containing glycerin on the "Buddha's Foot Stone" at Yakushiji Temple in Nara on April 6, leaving a stain.

News of the arrest led to a flood of comments on Wu Xiong's Facebook page, with netizens leaving messages like "Pour this oil" and "The whole world knows you now, really amazing, pour oil when moved."

Reports indicate the arrested woman admitted to the act, stating she has a habit of praying by splashing oil when she encounters something "moving." Coincidentally, Wu Xiong had posted about visiting Nara in April, aligning with the suspect's information. Her agent has not responded to requests for comment.
