Taiwanese coffee competition highlights local produce, Su Chiao-hui reiterates youth entrepreneurship pledges

New Taipei mayoral candidate and Democratic Progressive Party legislator Su Chiao-hui emphasized the growing potential of Taiwan's coffee industry while attending the award ceremony for the Taiwan Coffee International Bidding Invitational Competition. She highlighted how such events serve as crucial platforms for showcasing high-quality Taiwanese coffee to international markets and buyers, fostering professional evaluation and global recognition.

The Taiwan Coffee International Bidding Invitational Competition, through the establishment of events and platforms, brings together coffee from all production areas in Taiwan, allowing Taiwanese coffee to receive professional evaluation from international markets and buyers. This is the new concept and new method of the new era, connecting events with the market and Taiwan with the world.

Su noted the remarkable density of specialty coffee and independent roasting shops in Taiwan, a testament to the nation's vibrant coffee culture. She pointed out the diversity and richness of coffee products from various regions and estates across Taiwan, as observed in the competition's entries. Drawing on insights from Lin Che-hao, host of the Taiwan Coffee Research Project, Su suggested that Taiwan's product diversity and stable democratic system position it as an ideal "coffee laboratory" for the world.

During the event, which also included Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang and other legislators, Su reiterated her policy pledges for youth entrepreneurship. She plans to establish a "one-stop accelerator" program designed to support startups in high-demand sectors such as coffee, sports coaching, and AI. This initiative would offer comprehensive training in brand positioning, cost management, and social media marketing, coupled with professional consulting services to significantly mitigate entrepreneurial risks.
