Taiwanese Horror Film 'The Pig King 4' Tops Box Office on Ghost Festival

Taiwan's homegrown exorcism horror film, 'The Pig King 4: Kuntilanak,' made a strong debut on Ghost Festival, raking in nearly NT$10 million on its opening day and securing the top spot at the box office. The film's success was celebrated by the cast and crew, who engaged with enthusiastic audiences during post-screening Q&A sessions in Taipei and Taichung.

Producer Tsou Chieh-chung and director Liao Shih-han led the promotional efforts, joined by lead actors Chen Xue-zhen, Hsu An-chih, Liu Kuo-shao, Hu Yu-heng, and Indonesian star Ferry Salim. Fran, the singer of the film's theme song, also made a surprise appearance, adding to the fan excitement. The dedicated fans not only praised the film's upgrades but also passionately requested a fifth installment.

'The Pig King 4: Kuntilanak,' developed over three years, aims to expand the 'The Pig King' cinematic universe. Rooted in Taiwanese temple folk culture, the film confronts legendary Asian taboos and vengeful spirits. The movie is currently playing in theaters across Taiwan.
