Taiwanese Host Chen Hong Recounts $9.3 Million Fraud to Inspire Resilience

Taiwanese host Chen Hong, known as the 'King of Asian Cuisine,' recently shared a painful past experience of being defrauded of NT$30 million (approximately $930,000 USD) by a friend.

Chen Hong recounted that he even had to mortgage his property due to the significant financial loss. He revealed these past struggles in a recent interview, aiming to inspire others facing adversity. He emphasized the importance of perseverance, stating that no matter the challenges, one should not easily give up.

Despite the hardship, Chen Hong maintains a positive outlook, believing that life's ups and downs are inevitable. He shared that he recently received an overwhelming response online, with a netizen offering a donation of NT$5 billion (approximately $155 million USD), though it has not yet been deposited. This gesture, however, warmed his heart.

Chen Hong advised those feeling trapped in difficult times to listen to their inner voice, view worldly changes with equanimity, and remain humble and diligent. He believes that seizing the right opportunities when they arise will eventually lead to a tenfold return on the 'tuition fees' paid through past hardships.
