Taiwanese Junior High Baseball Team Heads to World Series After Dominant Championship Win

Taiwan's Xinming Junior High School has secured a spot in the World Series after winning the Asia-Pacific Middle School Baseball Championship in South Korea. The team dominated their final match against Japan, defeating them 14-0 to claim the championship title and the representative rights for the Asia-Pacific region.

Xinming Junior High School had a strong performance throughout the tournament, including a perfect game against Japan in their opening match and consecutive wins against teams from American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, and Hong Kong. Their victory in the final, powered by a strong offense and effective pitching from Ma Tian-en and Lin Guan-chin, allowed them to finish the game early in the fifth inning.

This win marks Xinming Junior High School's opportunity to compete for their seventh world title and Taiwan's fifth consecutive championship defense in the upcoming tournament. Head coach Huang Wei-chih emphasized the importance of focus and expressed satisfaction with the players' determination. The team plans to refine their hitting and pitching upon returning to Taiwan in preparation for the World Series.

In the Little League division, Taiwan's Hongye Elementary School narrowly missed advancing to the World Series in Williamsport. After topping their group and defeating New Zealand in the semifinals, they lost the championship final 1-3 to host South Korea. Despite the loss, the team's performance was commendable, and they are encouraged to strive for another chance next year.
