Taiwanese Man Sentenced to 4 Years for Running Prostitution Ring with Minors

A man in Hsinchu, Taiwan, received a four-year prison sentence for his role in a prostitution ring that exploited five underage girls. The court also ordered the confiscation of NT$160,000 in illegal profits.

The convicted man, identified by the surname Guo, along with his girlfriend, Peng, allegedly recruited minors for sex work. They advertised the girls on the dating app "Tantan" and in Telegram groups, offering hourly services priced between NT$5,000 and NT$9,600. Guo and Peng reportedly profited by taking the majority of the earnings after paying the girls for their time.

The Hsinchu District Court found Guo's actions to be detrimental to the victims' physical and mental health, personal development, and understanding of relationships and financial values. The court also emphasized the damage to social order and public morals. The sentence reflects the severity of exploiting minors for commercial sex, highlighting the legal system's stance against such offenses.
