Taiwanese Oil Plant Halts Operations Amid Contamination Probe

The Yuanchun Oil Pressing Plant in Jiayi County has announced a temporary suspension of operations to cooperate with authorities investigating elevated levels of benzo(a)pyrene in its camellia oil products. The plant processed packaged camellia oil for Weijia International Co., Ltd. and "Taiwan Camellia Oil" for International Functional Food Co., Ltd., both of which were found to exceed regulatory limits.

In a statement released on its website, Yuanchun Oil Pressing Plant confirmed it is working with the health bureau to clarify the cause and source of the contamination. The company has proactively initiated a precautionary recall of affected products, notifying distributors and retail partners to remove them from shelves and prevent consumer concern. Products manufactured between December 2025 and July of this year are subject to the recall.
