Taiwanese Pitcher Pan Throws 158 KPH Fireball in Futures Game, Allows Two-Run Homer

Taiwanese fireballer Wen-Hui Pan made an appearance in the 2026 Futures Game, pitching 0.1 innings for the National League team. While he showcased his powerful arm, hitting 98.7 mph (approximately 158.8 km/h), he also gave up a two-run home run.

Pan entered the game in the sixth inning with two outs. After issuing a walk, he faced Nathan Flewelling, the second-ranked prospect in the Tampa Bay Rays' system. Pan threw a 96.1 mph four-seam fastball, which Flewelling hit for a two-run homer to right field. Pan then struck out Xavier Neyens, the Houston Astros' second-ranked prospect, on six pitches to end his outing.

In total, Pan threw 14 pitches, 7 of which were strikes. He allowed one hit, which resulted in two runs, and recorded one strikeout and one walk. This appearance marks Pan as the 15th Taiwanese player to participate in the Futures Game.

The 23-year-old pitcher underwent Tommy John surgery in November 2024, which caused him to miss the entire 2025 season. He returned to the field this year, playing in Class A, High-A, and Double-A. Currently, in Double-A, he has an 8-game record with a 3.38 ERA, one save, and one hold. In 8 innings pitched, he has given up 13 hits, including one home run, and recorded 3 strikeouts, with opponents batting .371 against him.
