A Taiwanese media report highlighting the convenience and affordability of shared offices for Chinese cross-border e-commerce businesses took an unexpected turn when a prominent banner reading "United Front" (統戰) was spotted in the background. The report, which focused on a co-working space in Shenzhen costing just 600 yuan per month, was subsequently removed from YouTube after drawing significant online attention.

The office featured in the report is located in Shenzhen's Longgang District Kangli City, designated as a national-level e-commerce demonstration base. The background banner advertising local government support clearly listed "United Front" as one of the policy initiatives. This discovery quickly circulated on social media platforms like Threads, with users expressing surprise and drawing connections to Chinese political influence operations.

One user posted on Threads, "Am I seeing something in the background that I shouldn't be seeing?" The post garnered over 2 million views within 24 hours, fueling discussions on other platforms like PTT and Facebook. The reporter responsible for the segment later apologized on Threads, attributing the video's removal to their report, and expressed hope that the news outlet would not hold them accountable.

Further investigation revealed that the Kangli City base officially opened in 2023, with local United Front officials, including Liu Deping and Wen Wanqing, attending the ceremony. Liu Deping had previously described the district's approach as pioneering a "United Front + Economy" mechanism, integrating e-commerce development into the United Front's work to drive economic growth. Kangli City's status as a national e-commerce demonstration base was presented as a successful example of this model, encouraging the base to continue its role in empowering economic development through the United Front.
