Tajik judokas to compete at Asian Junior Championships in Jordan

Tajikistan's junior judo contingent is set to test their skills at the Asian Junior Championships, taking place in Amman, Jordan, on July 18-19. This event is a significant stepping stone for the nation's young judokas, serving as a crucial preparatory stage for the upcoming Junior World Championships.

The championships are expected to draw the continent's most promising young talent, providing a competitive platform for athletes to measure themselves against the best. Tajikistan will be represented by nine athletes across several weight categories. These include Ikrom Shamsov and Ramziddin Azizov (under-60 kg), Yosin Bobokalonov and Muhammadrofe Habibullo (under-66 kg), Voris Nazarov and Muhammadi Loiqov (under-73 kg), Aminjon Abdujalilzoda and Abdullo Loiqov (under-81 kg), and Ardasher Hamza (under-90 kg).

Regarded as one of Asia's most challenging judo competitions, the tournament traditionally features formidable participants from judo powerhouses such as Japan, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and China. For the Tajik athletes, this competition offers an invaluable opportunity to gain international exposure, hone their techniques, and accumulate vital ranking points.

Tajikistan's strategy includes fielding two judokas in each of the under-60 kg, under-66 kg, under-73 kg, and under-81 kg divisions. This approach aims to enhance the team's potential for a strong performance and allow the coaching staff to effectively evaluate the country's emerging judo talent. Athletes from approximately 20 Asian countries are anticipated to participate, with medalists earning crucial experience ahead of other major events this season.
