Tajikistan Opens Registration for Seasonal Jobs in Britain and Turkey

Registration has opened in Tajikistan for seasonal work in the United Kingdom, but authorities are warning applicants that completing an application does not guarantee either a job or a visa.

AGRI-HR began accepting registrations on Sept. 4 and will continue through Sept. 11. The Migration Service of Tajikistan’s Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population said applications must be submitted exclusively through the company’s official website, agri-hr.com.

Applicants need a valid foreign passport and must enter their personal and contact details, complete the electronic form, provide information about their work experience and pass the program’s selection stages. The Migration Service said names and other passport details must be entered in Latin letters exactly as they appear in the passport.

“Registration and completion of the application form do not guarantee obtaining a job or visa. Candidates, in accordance with the program requirements, go through the provided selection and verification stages,” the service said. It urged citizens not to use intermediaries or third-party websites and not to give personal documents or data to unknown people.

The warnings come amid repeated reports of fraud involving Tajiks seeking work in Europe. Authorities recently opened a criminal case against the former head of the Agency for Employment Abroad in Sughd Region, who is suspected of promising visas to European countries and defrauding dozens of job seekers. He is wanted. Authorities have also reported the detention of the heads of Arsa and Davri Istiqlol, who allegedly collected hundreds of millions of somoni from dozens of applicants while promising to send them to work in Britain.

Britain has become a newer destination for Tajik labor migrants. In the first six months of the year, 2,198 Tajik citizens were sent there for seasonal work. The Agency for Employment Abroad has also begun registering applicants for jobs in Turkey, Asia-Plus reported, with employers seeking general laborers.
