Tajikistan to establish sustainable seed production and certification system

Tajikistan is set to modernize its agricultural sector with the approval of a comprehensive Seed Sector Development Program for the years 2026 to 2030. The government's initiative aims to significantly upgrade existing seed farms and provide robust support for domestic plant breeding efforts.

The program's core objectives include increasing the volume of certified seeds produced within the country and substantially reducing Tajikistan's dependence on imported seed varieties. This strategic move is expected to enhance the quality and reliability of the nation's agricultural inputs.

Financially, the program has been allocated a total of 39.31 million somoni. Of this substantial sum, 16.37 million somoni will be directly invested in the modernization and operational enhancements of seed farms. The initiative underscores Tajikistan's commitment to agricultural self-sufficiency and technological advancement in farming.
