Tally Gotliv jeopardized Shin Bet agent’s safety, AG tells Knesset panel

Israeli Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara told the Knesset House Committee that Likud MK Tally Gotliv created a severe security risk by exposing the personal details of a Shin Bet agent during wartime. The Attorney General presented the Shin Bet's stance in a heated debate over whether to grant Gotliv immunity from prosecution for violating the Shin Bet law.

Gotliv faces charges for publishing the identity of the partner of protest leader Shikma Bressler, who was allegedly a Shin Bet employee. She requested immunity under the Knesset Members' Immunity Law, arguing her actions were justified and that she acted knowingly. Gotliv spoke for hours, focusing on her claims of treason during the October 7 attacks and launching personal attacks against Baharav-Miara, accusing her of persecution and operating like a criminal organization.

According to reports, a top-secret Shin Bet document presented to the committee detailed real examples of agents whose lives were endangered after their names were exposed. MKs who saw the document stated it indicated Gotliv had endangered the agent, his children, and his family. The committee postponed a final vote on Gotliv's immunity to the following week.
