Interim Deputy Prime Minister Tanczos Barna suggested that the idea of designating Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare as prime minister was initially made in jest, but he did not rule out the possibility.

Barna criticized the National Liberal Party's (PNL) decision to exclude any governing formula with the Social Democratic Party (PSD), describing it as more than just a "red line." He questioned the PNL's decision, especially in light of the current political stalemate, suggesting that an alternative approach might have been more beneficial.

I don't see what can be done, since it is a congress decision in PNL. (...) probably they believe they made a very good decision. If I look at the deadlock, I think it could have been done differently.

The political negotiations remain stalled, with parties holding antagonistic positions and engaging in mutual attacks. Barna observed that no viable government formula, not even a minority one for a limited period, is currently visible. He indicated that efforts were made to find solutions for a majority government, but this is impossible as long as the PSD and PNL cannot reach an agreement.
