Tangerang Scout Leader Dies After Hit-and-Run Incident

A respected scout leader in Tangerang, Indonesia, Herman Sulistyo, 71, has died following a hit-and-run incident. The incident occurred early Sunday morning on Jalan Raya Serang KM 11 in Cikupa, Tangerang Regency.

Authorities are actively investigating the case. The Traffic Unit of the Tangerang City Police is examining evidence, including CCTV footage from the vicinity of the accident site and statements from witnesses. The goal is to identify and apprehend the unknown truck driver involved.

For the traffic accident case, it is already being handled by the Law Enforcement Unit of the Tangerang City Traffic Police.

According to police reports, the truck was traveling from Bitung towards Cikupa when it collided with Sulistyo, who was riding a bicycle. The impact caused serious injuries, and Sulistyo was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported to RSUD Balaraja for an autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation.

Herman Sulistyo was a well-known figure within the scouting movement across Tangerang Raya and Banten province. He was recognized for his unwavering commitment to scouting values and was often seen in his complete scout uniform, even during daily activities. He frequently used his bicycle to attend scouting events, a habit that tragically led to his demise.

Sulistyo was laid to rest at TPU Rawa Kucing in Tangerang City after funeral prayers at Masjid Raya Al-A'zhom, attended by local officials and fellow scouts from Banten. The burial was conducted with full scouting honors.
