The Strait of Hormuz is a vital waterway, connecting Middle Eastern oil-producing nations to markets worldwide. In 2024, approximately 20 million barrels of crude oil, nearly 20% of global daily consumption, transited through the strait daily, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
