Taoyuan Bade Residential Fire: 42-Year-Old Man Critically Injured with 90% Burns

A late-night fire in a residential building in Taoyuan City's Bade District has left a 42-year-old man in critical condition, suffering burns to approximately 90% of his body.

The blaze erupted around 11:14 p.m. on July 4, engulfing the fourth floor of the four-story building. The structure, which includes a closed braised pork rice restaurant on the first floor, has residential units on the upper levels. Firefighters were dispatched immediately and arrived to find the fourth-floor addition fully ablaze, with flames and crackling sounds emanating from the structure.

Before firefighters arrived, some individuals attempted to enter the burning structure, prompting warnings from nearby residents. Firefighters initiated both firefighting and rescue operations upon arrival. They successfully rescued the 42-year-old man, identified by the surname Lin, from the fourth floor. He was found to be in cardiopulmonary arrest upon arrival at the hospital and was rushed to St. Paul's Hospital for emergency treatment.

Firefighters brought the fire under control by 11:56 p.m. and extinguished it completely by 12:18 a.m. on July 5. The operation involved 75 firefighters, 4 volunteer firefighters, 27 fire trucks, and 4 ambulances. The total area burned, property damage, and the exact cause of the fire are currently under investigation by fire department officials.
