Taoyuan City Faces 11-Hour Water Outage Affecting Nearly 100,000 Households

Nearly 100,000 households across five districts in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, are set to face an 11-hour water outage on August 10. The shutdown is necessary for Taiwan Water Corporation's Second Regional Management Office to carry out essential maintenance, including inspections of high-voltage electrical equipment at the Longtan Water Treatment Plant.

The extensive work, dubbed "three-in-one engineering," also includes updating old electrical equipment and replacing gasket materials at the Sangkan water intake station. The outage is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 7 p.m., encompassing a 6-hour construction period and an estimated 5-hour restoration phase.

The affected areas include all villages in the Longtan and Daxi districts, specific villages in Fuxing, Bade, and Pingzhen districts. The Taoyuan City Government's Economic Development Bureau has urged residents to turn off the power supply to their water pumps and be vigilant against fire hazards. They also advised households with water inlets below ground level to close the main valve before the water supply stops to prevent contamination through siphoning. Residents experiencing issues after the water is restored are encouraged to contact Taiwan Water Corporation or the Economic Development Bureau.
