Taoyuan City Government Defends Medical Plans After Criticism of Hospital Project Failure

Taoyuan City's government has responded to criticism from Democratic Progressive Party mayoral candidate Huang Shih-chieh. Huang accused Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng of causing the failure of the National Tsing Hua University Hospital BOT project. The city's Information and Tourism Department Director, Lo Chu-tung, clarified the situation on October 18.

Lo explained that the National Tsing Hua University Hospital project was initiated as a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model led by the university itself. He stated that subsequent issues arose due to cooperation problems. The city government emphasized its commitment to advancing the development of medical resources within Taoyuan.

Despite the setback with the Tsing Hua Hospital project, the city government asserted that it will continue to push forward with its plans to expand medical capacity. This indicates a continued focus on improving healthcare infrastructure in the region, even as political disputes arise.
