Taoyuan City Prepares for Typhoon Bary, Mayor Oversees Response Center

Taoyuan City is mobilizing all resources to prepare for Typhoon Bary, with Mayor Chang San-cheng directing operations from the disaster response center. The storm is forecast to significantly impact the region from the afternoon into the evening, prompting calls for continued vigilance from all city departments.

The city's emergency services have already handled 37 reported incidents, including water accumulation and fallen trees. Power outages affected approximately 2,521 households as of 9 a.m., with Taiwan Power Company deploying 275 personnel and 140 vehicles for repairs.

In the mountainous Fuxing District, designated as a yellow alert for landslides, 722 people were preemptively evacuated from at-risk zones. Of these, 114 individuals are currently residing in temporary shelters. The Department of Tourism and Culture reported no major damage to its managed scenic areas, though some trails experienced rockfalls that have since been cleared.

The Department of Agriculture is monitoring market prices and crop damage, ready to initiate damage assessment if needed, while ensuring stable agricultural product supply. The Social Affairs Bureau has established shelters to care for evacuated residents and has pre-distributed essential supplies to elderly individuals, people with disabilities, and those receiving meal services.
