Taoyuan City Prepares for Typhoon Season with Flood Control Measures

As the typhoon season approaches, Taoyuan City is implementing comprehensive measures to bolster its defenses against potential heavy rainfall and flooding. The Water Resources Bureau has announced that six key flood-prone areas across the city are now equipped with pre-deployed water pumps, ensuring a swift response to inundation.

The city has meticulously prepared its flood control resources, amassing 11,449 sandbags, 28 water pumps, 765 large blocks, and 1,568 cubic blocks. These materials are strategically positioned to mitigate the impact of severe weather. Furthermore, 40 community-based disaster prevention centers are on standby to activate their preparedness plans, and close monitoring of rainfall in potential landslide-prone areas in the Fuxing District is underway.

Water Resources Bureau Director Liu Zhen-yu emphasized the bureau's readiness, stating that all necessary flood control equipment and supplies have been inventoried and prepared. The six pre-deployed mobile water pumps are located in Guishan, Bade, Zhongli, and Luzhu districts. The bureau is also enhancing inspections and preparations for detention ponds, ensuring their operational readiness and pre-emptively draining them to maximize water retention capacity.

Taoyuan City authorities are urging residents to remain alert, regularly inspect and clear any blockages in household drainage systems, and to download the "Water Situation in Taoyuan" mobile application. This app provides real-time information on rainfall, typhoon movements, and flood control intelligence, empowering citizens to stay informed and contribute to the city's safety.
