Taoyuan under heavy rain advisory; central, northern Taiwan brace for afternoon thunderstorms

Taiwan's Meteorological Administration issued a heavy rain advisory for Taoyuan on the morning of July 13 due to increasing southern moisture. The agency anticipates localized heavy rain in Taoyuan during the morning hours. Thunderstorms are also expected in central and northern Taiwan, along with Yilan and Hualien, especially in the afternoon. Southern and southeastern regions will experience intermittent scattered showers or thunderstorms, with heavier rain possible in the southeast and the Hengchun Peninsula. Elsewhere, scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible throughout the day, with potential for localized heavy rain or short-duration torrential downpours in northern areas and mountainous regions in the afternoon. Temperatures are forecast to reach highs of 32 to 34 degrees Celsius, feeling muggy when there is no rain. Air quality is expected to be "good" in most areas, with "normal" levels in the northern region. Looking ahead, unstable weather is expected to continue through the week with the influence of southerly winds, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoons. Highs will range from 32 to 35 degrees Celsius, with lows between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius.
