TAP Air Portugal schedules flights to Valencia airport

TAP Air Portugal is set to maintain its commercial operations in Venezuela by flying into the Arturo Michelena International Airport in Valencia. This move follows damage sustained by the Maiquetía International Airport after a significant seismic event.

The airline has scheduled two weekly flights connecting Lisbon and Valencia, operating from September 6 through October 25. This initiative aims to preserve regular connectivity and assist passengers affected by the airport disruptions, according to the aviation portal Aviación Online.

These flights will feature a technical stop in Guadeloupe. During this stop, crews will change and aircraft will be refueled before continuing the journey between Portugal and Venezuela. TAP resumed its service to Venezuela on July 13, initially transporting humanitarian aid for earthquake victims.

Maiquetía Airport currently has limited operations, primarily for cargo. A provisional reopening is anticipated in September, with full operations expected by the end of the year. TAP remains the sole airline offering direct flights between Portugal and Venezuela, with onward connections to European cities like Barcelona, Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, and Rome.
