Taraba North APC group urges party to uphold primary result

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria's Taraba North Senatorial District, supported by the Conference of APC Support Groups, have raised concerns over alleged moves to overturn the results of the party's senatorial primary election. They are calling on the APC national leadership to respect the outcome, which they assert reflects the will of the party members.

It has come to our attention that certain individuals within the party are allegedly orchestrating clandestine moves to undermine and overturn the credible outcome of the Taraba North primary. There are credible concerns that attempts are being made to reverse the result already declared in favour of Hon. Muhammad Kabir Bello, a candidate widely and overwhelmingly accepted as the people’s choice.

The stakeholders congratulated Muhammad Bello on his emergence as the APC senatorial candidate for Taraba North, deeming his victory a clear mandate from party members. They also acknowledged the victories of Senators Haruna Manu (Taraba Central) and David Jimkuta (Taraba South), whose results were declared by the APC National Assembly Primary Election Committee and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

However, the group expressed alarm over what they described as "clandestine moves" by certain individuals within the party to reverse the declared result for Taraba North. Abubakar Ibrahim, Coordinator of Taraba North Stakeholders, and Dr. Bilal Galadima, General Secretary of the Conference of APC Support Groups, stated that these efforts aim to undermine the outcome favoring Bello, whom they called the "people's choice."
