TCS subsidiary signs MoU with Telangana for Rs 70,000 crore AI data centre campus

Telangana is preparing to host what the state government describes as India’s largest artificial intelligence data centre campus. TCS subsidiary HyperVault has signed a memorandum of understanding with the government for a project expected to attract about Rs 70,000 crore.

The proposed campus will cover more than 250 acres in Hyderabad and have a capacity of 1 gigawatt, or 1,000 megawatts. HyperVault and its partner companies expect the development to create around 7,000 direct and indirect jobs, with opportunities also emerging in power, cooling, networking, construction, engineering and data centre operations.

A TCS delegation met Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at the Secretariat. TCS CEO K. Krithivasan, COO Aarthi Subramanian, HyperVault President V. Rajanna and HyperVault CEO and Managing Director Deepesh Nanda attended. OpenAI Chief Technology Officer Uday Rudraraju joined by video from the United States. Several Telangana ministers and senior officials also took part.

The campus is intended to provide large-scale computing infrastructure for leading AI companies, hyperscalers and global enterprises. It will use high-performance computing systems and liquid-cooling technology. The state government said the project would emphasize environmental sustainability through green energy and a water-neutral design.

Reddy called the project a historic initiative for Telangana and India, saying Hyderabad was emerging as a global leader in the AI revolution. He said computing capacity and AI models could become critical public infrastructure and give Telangana a strategic advantage. He also linked the investment to the state’s Future City plans and its goal of becoming a $3 trillion economy by 2047 under the Telangana Rising Vision-2047.
