Teacher Arrested for Allegedly Recording Students in Bathroom

A male elementary school teacher in Takalar, South Sulawesi, has been arrested on suspicion of secretly recording five female university students who were participating in a community service program. The 49-year-old suspect, identified by the initial SY, was apprehended by police after the victims filed a report.

The incident reportedly took place on August 11 in a bathroom at an elementary school in the Pattalassang District of Takalar. The discovery was made when one of the students, who had entered the bathroom to provide a urine sample for a required test, found a mobile phone hidden in a trash can. The phone was reportedly in recording mode.

The victim found the handphone in a recording state while checking the toilet.

Upon finding the device, the student retrieved it and discovered it had been recording her and her four companions during their visit to the restroom. This discovery led to suspicions that they had been filmed without their consent.

After being secured, we checked his HP, it turned out the video had been deleted by the perpetrator.

Authorities confirmed that the victims have filed a police report and the suspect has been secured at the Takalar Police Resort. However, investigators face a challenge as the suspect allegedly deleted the recorded videos from his phone after his arrest. Police are now planning to seek assistance from a forensic laboratory to attempt recovery of the deleted footage and further investigate the suspect's motives.
