Teachers protest constant changes in Veracruz Education Secretariat, citing processing delays

Various teacher unions in Veracruz, Mexico, have staged a protest against what they describe as constant changes in leadership within the Secretariat of Education (SEV). The demonstrators argue that these frequent shifts in personnel, especially within the General Directorate of Human Resources, are creating significant obstacles and delays in processing essential administrative matters.

Carrying banners and signs, the union representatives demanded respect for their members' rights. They explained that the continuous changes in officials disrupt established agreements, lead to a loss of administrative continuity, and directly impact the service provided to thousands of education workers.

While acknowledging the state administration's legal authority to appoint and remove public servants, the unions urged for the prioritization of the best interests of children. They also called for an emphasis on public service efficiency and the consolidation of experienced work teams.

The unions expressed particular concern over the recent turnover in the Directorate of Human Resources, noting it comes at a critical time for the education system. This period involves processes for reassignment, personnel movements, administrative regularizations, and various labor-related procedures. They stressed the importance of filling strategic responsibilities with individuals possessing experience, technical capacity, and knowledge of the educational system.
