Teenager arrested for stabbing high school girl in Seoul

A teenage male has been arrested and detained on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a high school girl with a knife in a residential area of Gangseo District, Seoul. The Seoul Southern District Court issued an arrest warrant for the suspect, identified as Hong, citing concerns about evidence tampering and flight risk.

The incident occurred on July 23 around 1:26 PM in the Hwagok-dong neighborhood. Hong is accused of attacking the female high school student, referred to as Ms. N, with a knife, causing her injuries. The victim sustained a stab wound to the abdomen and was transported to a nearby hospital. Her condition is not life-threatening, according to reports.

Alerted by the cries of Ms. N and her mother, nearby residents rushed to the scene. They managed to subdue Hong before the police arrived. Officers who responded to the call arrested Hong as a suspect caught in the act.

It has been reported that Hong and the victim knew each other. The court's decision to issue the arrest warrant followed a suspect interrogation hearing conducted by Judge Oh Hana.
