Teenager attends court hearing for allegedly murdering mother after argument

A teenage boy in Incheon appeared in court for a pre-arrest warrant hearing on charges of murdering his mother. The suspect allegedly stabbed his mother to death following an argument at their apartment on August 7. He reportedly confessed to the crime and called the police himself after the incident.

The 10-something suspect, who had dropped out of high school, lived with his parents and younger sibling. The incident occurred when only the mother and son were home; other family members were reportedly out at the time. Investigators are working to determine the exact motive and circumstances surrounding the fatal altercation.

During his appearance at the Incheon District Court, the teenager, wearing a mask and hat, offered no response to questions from reporters regarding the dispute with his mother, his remorse, family conflicts, or his decision to self-report to the police. The court is expected to decide on the arrest warrant later in the day.
