Teenager Kills Grandparents, Five Others at Thai School Before Suicide

A tragic incident unfolded at Debsirin Nonthaburi School on the outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand, where a 14-year-old student is suspected of fatally shooting five people before committing suicide. The violence began earlier at his home, where he allegedly killed his grandparents. The school attack occurred around 10 a.m. local time on a Friday.

According to the Thai Ministry of Health, 22 individuals sustained injuries during the incident. Some were direct victims of gunfire, while others were hurt in the chaos as people attempted to flee the scene. Six local hospitals are treating the injured, with nine reported in critical condition, four severely injured, and nine with minor injuries.

Police confirmed that the suspect took his own life after the shooting spree. Initial reports indicated six deaths at the school, but this number was later revised to five. There was some initial confusion regarding whether the victims were students or teachers, with police stating students were among the dead, while the Minister of Health suggested all five were teachers. The suspect fired approximately 26 shots inside the school, and an additional 34 rounds of ammunition were found with his body. The firearm used reportedly belonged to his grandfather.

Witness accounts described students hiding in classrooms upon hearing the gunshots. Purin Khumchoo, a 17-year-old student, recounted seeing the attacker aiming a gun at him, noting the assailant appeared "very professional, as if he had been trained for a long time." Another student initially mistook the sounds for firecrackers before realizing the severity of the situation. National Police Chief Kittiratt Phanphet stated that forensic analysis indicated the shooter's aim was precise, hitting vital areas on some victims, prompting further investigation.
