Teenagers Demolish Furniture Parents Set Up for Children in Belgrade Park

A group of teenagers has destroyed newly installed park furniture in the Gočka Street area of Labudovo brdo, Belgrade. Local residents and parents had independently raised funds and worked to renovate the children's park, providing amenities for the neighborhood's youth.

The vandalism occurred in the evening, leaving the park damaged. Parents have since cleaned the area to prevent children from getting injured. Uroš Rajčić, one of the parents, stated that the teenagers "destroyed the furniture that parents provided in this unkempt space so that we could give children a place to spend time in nature." He added, "We are forced to clean this space ourselves, to organize ourselves, to show children how to take care of their neighborhood."

Rajčić expressed frustration, noting the loss of a swing and emphasizing that the incident reveals a deeper problem: a lack of awareness and responsibility from institutions. "Those children are out at 11 PM, screaming, neighbors called the police, they harassed our young neighbor," he recounted, calling for accountability from educational institutions and social services.

The parents are committed to continuing their efforts to maintain the space, including mowing the grass, rather than traveling to other parts of the city for outdoor activities. A neighbor has filed a petty offense report against unknown persons. The parents hope that authorities will respond and that they can live in an orderly system, but they are prepared to continue their upkeep of the park themselves.
