Tehran calls on Washington to admit war defeat, Trump warns of high fuel prices

Iran has called on Washington to recognize a "war defeat" and prepare for elevated fuel prices, citing its control over the Strait of Hormuz. The country's deputy foreign minister, Kazem Garibabadi, asserted that the Strait would operate exclusively under Iranian command.

"The Strait of Hormuz will be opened and closed exclusively under the command of Iran. As long as you do not accept the reality of defeat and stop living in fantasies, Iran will continue to implement the blockade," Garibabadi stated. This declaration comes amid heightened tensions and Iran's assertion of authority over the crucial waterway, through which a significant portion of global oil passed before the war.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi indicated that Tehran has not yet decided whether to resume negotiations with the United States. He stressed that Washington must meet certain conditions to facilitate passage through the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. has previously expressed concerns over Iran's actions in the region and its impact on global energy markets.
