Tel Aviv pediatrician charged with indecent acts against clinic employee

A pediatrician at a Tel Aviv clinic faces charges for allegedly committing repeated indecent acts against an employee over several months, including incidents involving physical force. The indictment, filed in the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court, details a disturbing escalation of conduct by the doctor, identified as Merabi Janshvili, a 74-year-old resident of Lod.

According to the indictment, Janshvili's actions began with unwanted touching, such as stroking the complainant's head, shoulders, and face, and touching her back, all against her will and reportedly for sexual arousal, gratification, or humiliation. The alleged behavior later intensified, with Janshvili reportedly pulling the employee toward him, stroking her face, and kissing her without consent.

Further incidents described in the indictment include Janshvili closing his office door, hugging and kissing the complainant against her will, and ignoring her attempts to resist. On one occasion, after the complainant examined his ear, Janshvili allegedly pushed her toward an examination table, lifted her shirt, touched her beneath her bra, and committed indecent acts against her, placing her hand on his genitals over his clothing despite her repeated requests to stop.

Janshvili worked as a pediatrician at a Clalit Health Services clinic in Tel Aviv, where the complainant started working in 2025. The indictment was filed by attorney Sharon Har Zion of the Tel Aviv District Attorney’s Office, charging Janshvili with indecent acts and indecent acts by force.
